This is an exterior view of the AllSaints shop in Manchester.
You can see how they've used sewing machines to catch the interest of passers by. These old sewing machines are held up using pipes and a wooden platform.
This is very similiar to the idea I have for exhibiting Lucy's work with the wire and clips to hold her books in place as people interact with them.
Here is architecture design of Blaas General Partnership office located in Bolzano, Italy. The designer of this building is monovolume architecture + design. The design is modern and unique for office building. On the ground floor of the building there is the sales division, on the first floor the exposition area and the repair shop. All administration offices are located on the second floor. The overall impression of the structure is a homogenous and closed building. Nevertheless, there exists a separation between the public and the private sector.
The client can perceive this clear and formal internal division already from the outside.
The glass façade on the Northern side provides a maximum of visibility and transparency to the exhibition and sales area. The private spaces such as repair offices, stockrooms and offices have their façades exposed to the South, East and West which are protected with a sun screening system.
The reason why I have uploaded photos of this building is because of its very unusual exterior design.
The upper parts of the building seems to be hovering above the rest of the floors. It looks very airy and clean even though the concrete looks quite cold.
The fact that the whole facade seems to be made of glass. This gives anyone walking past the opportunity to have a look inside without actually entering the building.
The floors of the shop have very large glass panels that let you see into the other levels of the shop. It also gives people a very unique and different vantage point in which not many people get to see which gives this shop a very unique feature. I may integrate this into my work later on.
I like how this building is bright but yet seems to still fit in with the surroundings, the fact that it looks like three stacked up rectangular box's gives it a very unique look.
